TORONTO, FEBRUARY 27, 2004 - Necessary Angel Theatre Company is pleased to present the first public presentations of HALF LIFE, a new play by John Mighton, directed by Daniel Brooks. The award-winning artistic team behind Possible Worlds returns to create a poetic meditation on identity and the nature memory.

What shines through when memory fades away? Clara and Patrick meet in a nursing home for veterans and their families. They begin to fall in love, thinking they are rekindling an old flame. Have they ever met before? As Clara and Patrick’s middle-aged children watch their faltering parents, the older couple rediscovers beauty and love in the twilight of their lives.

John Mighton is a Dora, Chalmers, and Governor-General’s Award-winning playwright (Possible Worlds, A Short History of Night, Body and Soul, Scientific Americans, and The Little Years). He is also a mathematician, founder of JUMP (Junior Undiscovered Math Prodigies - an educational charity providing free tutoring to elementary-level students), and author of the best-selling book, The Myth of Ability. HALF LIFE is John’s first new work for the stage in eight years. Necessary Angel began working on HALF LIFE in April 2003 and has continued the process with workshops throughout this season. Watch for a full run at Tarragon Theatre as part of their 2004/2005 Season (Co-produced by Necessary Angel and Tarragon Theatre).

HALF LIFE runs at Theatre Passe Muraille, 16 Ryerson Ave., from March 30 to April 4, 2004 – SIX SHOWS ONLY! Tuesday through Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 2:30pm. Tickets are $15.
