TORONTO , June 8, 2005 - Necessary Angel Theatre Company is proud to report that their productions of Half Life and Bigger Than Jesus , have received a total of thirteen nominations for the 26th annual Dora Mavor Moore awards. The awards, celebrating excellence in Toronto 's theatre, dance and opera are to be handed out on June 27th , 2005. Artistic Director Daniel Brooks received three nominations—two for Outstanding Direction and one shared nomination with his co-writer, Rick Miller, in the Outstanding New Play category for Bigger Than Jesus . Playwright, John Mighton, also received a nomination for Outstanding New Play with Half Life. Both plays received nominations for Outstanding Production, as well as seven other nominations in various performance and technical categories. Half Life opens at Ottawa 's Magnetic North Theatre Festival on June 8 at a gala performance with Her Excellency the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada in attendance. This is the show's final stop on its extremely successful, three-week tour to three of Canada 's most prestigious international theatre festivals. Reception at Montreal 's Festival de théâtre des Amériques and T héâtres d'Ailleurs festival in Quebec City was tremendous, with praise from critics and audiences alike.
Necessary Angel Theatre Company will be in full force on the international stage this fall. In October, the company will embark upon a four-week tour of Half Life to Scotland — The Tron Theatre and Perth Theatre . This is coupled with a four-city tour of Germany for Bigger Than Jesus in November.
