What began as a way for theatre workers to find some stillness in the eye of the creative storm, has become a virtual offering for all in this time of uncertainty and precarity.

The Stillness Room is a coming together to experience the calming and quietly transformative qualities of stillness, silence and connection. It is fifteen minutes of stillness together.

The Stillness Room was founded in 2016 by Toronto theatre director, teacher and arts leader Alan Dilworth. A long time meditation practitioner, Dilworth started The Stillness Room as a health and wellness offering for artists and theatre staff working under intense pressure. The program was piloted at Soulpepper Theatre Company where it ran for two years, and was then implemented at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival.

Now, in partnership with Necessary Angel Theatre Company, The Stillness Room is available to all online.
